Can AI workplace monitoring integrate with existing cameras and EHS workflows?

Usually, yes. Many AI safety platforms analyze video from a site's existing IP cameras, and some accept older analog cameras through an encoder that converts the signal. Detected events, such as people in vehicle lanes or close passes between forklifts and pedestrians, are sent as alerts by email, text message or app and logged for review. Integration with EHS workflows means those events land in the same place as near-miss and incident reports, with an owner and a corrective action, either through a built-in case list or through an export or API into the existing EHS platform.

Real-time safety monitoring covers the detection layer, and EHS incident management software covers the workflow side. Existing cameras were usually placed for security, not safety, so check coverage of crossings, docks and blind aisles before assuming they are enough; resolution, frame rate and lighting also limit what a model can detect.

Ask suppliers for a compatibility check on your actual camera network, the bandwidth and on-site hardware needed, and how events map to your EHS categories. Confirm that video handling meets your privacy obligations. Fixed cameras do not replace truck-mounted detection for the operator’s own blind spots.
